Doha Academy Schools celebrated their Graduating Classes of 2019Doha Academy Al Waab Branch hosted Reception (Al Waab, Salwa), Year 6 (Al Waab, Salwa) and Secondary (boys and girls) graduation ceremonies to celebrate the achievements of the graduates. Ceremonies involved a march of students, reading of speeches, reading Quran, various performances, the giving diplomas and the official moment when the students were declared graduates. It was one of the most important moments in our students’ lives as it marked a transition from one stage of their educational life to another. Graduation party was attended by DA schools’ Principal Mr. Graeme M. Garrett, Deputy Principal Mr. Shane Foley, by DA schools’ academic staff, parents, friends. The major part of the ceremony was taken up by the distribution of degrees to the students who marched up the stage as their name was announced. It was a moment of pride for a student as well as the parents. The ceremonies ended with all graduates throwing their hats into the air as a sign of rejoicing over their new status.

Art Exhibition Primary Section Al WaabArt Exhibition at DA Al Waab Campus was a great opportunity for primary students to show their talent to parents, teachers and friends, it was a nice program to celebrate the spirit of innovation and creativity among Primary students of different ages.
Doha Academy hosts Al-Dosari and Afif during Celebration DayDoha Academy Al Waab held a Celebration Day, on May 5th, celebrating Al Faleh’s Group two decades of educational excellence in the presence of Sheikh Faleh Bin Nawaf Al Thani. The Celebration Day gave students a chance to enjoy a fun day with various activities breaking up the routine of school and examinations. Doha Academy proudly hosted Saad Al-Dosari and Akram Afif stars of Qatar National Football team during the celebration, where students had the chance to meet them and show their football tricks and talents with their favourite sports players.
16th annual Qur'an contest held at Doha AcademyThe annual competition is held under the patronage of Sheikha Dr Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, chairperson of Doha Academy, who supports Islamisation and customisation of foreign curricula delivered at international schools operating in Qatar, according to a statement. This year's competition witnessed remarkable progress at all levels in terms of competition with the participation of students and communities. The jury was led by Sheikh Abdul Salam Hassan Qandil, Imam from the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Yusri al-Saqqa and Maulana Kurch, a Qur'an reciter from Macedonia. A total of 130 schools in Qatar including independent, community and international schools participated in the qualifying phase from which 86 contestants qualified for the final phase. Sheikha Dr Aisha attended the final ceremony and congratulated all the contestants and winners as part of her commitment to spread Islamic values and culture.
DOHA ACADEMY AL WAAB CAMPUS’ PRIMARY SECTION CELEBRATED ARABIC DAY ON THURSDAY 25th APRILDoha Academy Al Waab campus organized Arabic Day celebration to promote the Love of Arabic Language and encourage students to strengthen their knowledge of Arabic Language and culture. Students were carrying crowns with the Arabic letter Daad (ض)- Arabic unique letter- printed on reflecting their belonging and pride of their mother tongue language. Students dressed up in Arabic characters. It was day full of joy with the students’ and teachers’ participation in the presence of the parents.
DOHA ACADEMY AL WAAB CAMPUS’ PRIMARY SECTION HAD A SUCCESSFUL BOOK FAIR WEEKWe held a successful BOOK FAIR week at our school. It gave children a motivation to read by offering them wide selection of books to choose from that they can look at before they decide to buy. It instilled a love of reading that lasts a lifetime. Book Fair gave teachers a chance to see and buy books they might want for their classroom. The event was very successful with high attendance from our students and teachers.
DOHA ACADEMY SALWA CELEBRATES WORLD WATER DAYOur students at Doha Academy Salwa celebrated World Water Day. They talked about the importance of water in our lives, and how and why we must conserve it. Students also put together various performances showcasing water pollution and the methods of prevention. Overall, it was a successful celebration.
SECONDARY GIRLS ENJOY GLOBAL VILLAGE DAYDoha Academy’s Secondary Girls held a Global Village Day where they showcased pavillions from various countries around the world. The students provided food, attire, and cultural glimpses into the different destinations.
DOHA ACADEMY STUDENTS CELEBRATE SPORTS DAYStudents at Doha Academy celebrated National Sports Day with a series of events held on campus during the week of February 10, 2019. Events were held all across the school to ensure our students could participate in them and learn the benefits of sports.
DOHA ACADEMY APPOINTS DEPUTY PRINCIPALWe are delighted to inform you that Mr. Shane Foley will be the new Deputy Principal for Doha Academy Schools. Prior to this, Mr. Foley served as the Principal of Primary and the Head of Doha Academy’s Salwa Campus. Mr. Foley comes from Australia, but had been living and working in the UK for 22 years before moving to Qatar. As for his hobbies, Mr. Foley is an avid football player, and has played professionally both in the UK and Australia. We wish Mr. Foley the best in his new role!
DOHA ACADEMY STUDENTS CELEBRATE QATAR’S VICTORYStudents at Doha Academy were delighted that Qatar won the Finals of the AFC Asian Cup. In order to celebrate, students dressed up in Qatari national dress orin colours of the Qatari flag. They showed solidarity and pride with the Qatari team.
STORYTELLING WEEK AT DOHA ACADEMYLast week, students at Doha Academy celebrated Storytelling Week. They were read to from different books by their teachers and our children truly enjoyed it. The week ended with students dressing up in their pajamas and being read to. It was a snuggly end to a fun filled week.
DOHA ACADEMY STUDENTS PROCEED TO NEXT ROUNDOur students from Al Waab proceeded to the next round of football after winning the preliminaries. On Thursday, January 24th, they won three rounds as well. We wish them the best of luck and are very proud of their success.
DOHA ACADEMY WELCOMES NEW PRINCIPALWe are delighted to inform you that Doha Academy has appointed a new Principal. Mr. Graeme Garrett has more than 10 years of experience leading schools in England, Europe and the Middle East. He served as Headmaster of The English School, Nicosia, Cyprus, considered the best school on the Island. Prior to this, Mr. Garrett served as Principal of The Sultan’s School, Muscat, Oman, whose reputation is well known in the region. In addition to being a school leader, Mr. Garrett has also been a Schools’ Inspector in the UK and has worked for the University of Oxford in the development of the Mathematics A Levels examination. Other than his educational career, Mr. Garrett is a keen sportsman and played International cricket for ten years. We welcome Mr. Garrett to the Doha Academy family and wish him the best.
DOHA ACADEMY AL WAAB CAMPUS’ PRIMARY SECTION HOLDS SUCCESSFUL PARENT TEACHER CONSULTATIONSOn Saturday, January 19th, our teachers met with students and parents for a three-way consultation to discuss student progress in the classroom. The conversations were led by the students in order for them to develop their own voice and help with fostering self-esteem and self-confidence. The event was very successful with high attendance from our students and parents.
DOHA ACADEMY STUDENTS WIN FOOTBALL PRELIMINARIESStudents from Doha Academy’s Al Waab and Salwa campuses were invited to play with other schools in a football tournament held at the Aspire field. The students from our Al Waab campus did us proud by winning most matches and drawing on one allowing them to proceed forward in the football tournament.
Doha Academy students wow Her Excellency, the Health Minister and esteemed officials with lively National Day performance.As part of the recent marking of Qatar National Day - the Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) hosted a wonderful morning celebrating the work done in public health across the country. Held in the Public Healthcare Corporation Tower, there were several VIP guests, including; Her Excellency Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari - Minister for Health, Mr Hamad Jassim Al Hamar - Director of Public Relations and Communications at the MoPH, Dr Mariam Alabdulmalik - Managing Director of Primary Healthcare Corporation, Mrs Huda Al-Wahedi - Executive Director of Corporate Communications, Naser Abdulla AL Obaidan - Executive Director of MD's Office, Abdulla Al-Mansoori - Executive Director of the PHCC and other esteemed individuals from the government were in attendance.
The event was marked by speeches, poetry and a thrilling performance by a group of Doha Academy students. Pupils from years 3 - 6 recited the Quran, poetry in praise of the nation and Emir, with the girls performing a traditional dance before the boys' sword dance - known as 'Al Arda' - for the grand finale. All present thoroughly enjoyed the performances, with Her Excellency, the Health Minister congratulating the students and staff on their efforts and stopping to take pictures with them. A magnificent event, well done to the Doha Academy students for proving to be the highlight of the celebrations
Qatar National Day at Doha AcademyThe students at Doha Academy celebrated Qatar National Day with much fervor. Our Arabic teachers created a program where children of all year levels were able to showcase their love for Qatar through a cultural program. This was followed by a communal meal for all students, staff and parents.
